(Long Way To Go)
Ain’t got no rest since you said the word go
Picking up the pieces of the seeds you sew
You test me, you best me, you arrest my soul
Coming down at me with a heavy load
But I gotta keep moving, it's a long way to go now baby
Climbing that hill but you're so far away
You tell me not to work but there's bills to pay
I ain't seen the sun since the break of day
Been fumbling in the dark and you won't light my way
My blood shot eyes they begin to stray now baby
Three points that cause the divide
And I fill it up with my sweat and time
But you tell me it's just not enough to save me
Climbing that hill but you’re miles away
But you tell me it’s just not enough to save me
Ain't got no rest since you said the word go
But I gotta' keep moving, it's a long way to go now baby
Now baby, you got me runnin' round going crazy
It’s three points between us baby
But you tell me it’s just not enough to save me no no no
Three points, three points between us baby

Back To You
A sunny day is coming
A weather-man told me so
I planted some seeds in my backyard
And I'm hoping to watch them grow.
A radio says its cloudy;
A newspaper says its clear.
A TV will tell you anything
It thinks you want to hear
I don't know what to say
And i don't know what to do
I just keep on searching
To find a way to get on back to you
Sometimes I see the light
sometimes its dark as night
sometimes I'm lost all day,
someday I'll find my way... to get back to you
... to get back to you

Cosmic Highway
The sun comes up
As the earth turns around
The fire burns the sky
As it slides throught the ground
And the days pass slowly by
Through Sierra's western sky
And I can feel it apon me now
On a cosmic ride
Sounds of laughter trickle in
While the midnight ladies lie in sin
You turn your face to the immortal grin
Of the pied piper who leads the rats back in
And the cosmic highway lit with rage
With the stars burning through its glowing haze
Casting shadows in a dying age
Of hope in its final page

Desert Wind
Lady Madonna sits on stage
Screaming to the crowd you have all been saved
And though you try to keep her spirit
As the light illumines her and you feel it but
As you walk through endless time
Looking to the earth and in the scars you find
That you have no place left to run
As the light shatters and the damage has just begun
It sets the stage
You cast your head up to the broken sky
Looking at the clouds in the gap you find
That the hole is grown way to big
While the wheel in the sky is still in spin but
I can't tell you now where to run
Where to find hope in the setting sun
While the men pulling string still have you believe
In empty promises and a broken dream
They come to take you down
Leaving you on their fallen ground
And still they’ll pull down on you
Only to drag you through
And then there comes a day
And the price you’ll have to pay
As the desert wind comes and blows you away
Setting you down through the heat of the day
And her voice comes to call on you
And settles down easy to help see you through

Distant Dreams
Close the doors and open your mind
To a hidden world that lies inside
It has no borders and it has no ties
Has no fences nor rules to guide
Turn your head and look around
You'll hear no movement and see no sound
All that's left for you to see
Is the world you created and your dream which is me
I can't move but I can still look around
Gather all the pieces and turn it back into sound
And I can see a light at the end
But what should I follow and Where should I begin
This land looks so new to me
How can I pretend to understand
In the distant dreams that never stop
That give you a key to unlock
The surreal land in your fearless mind
Where what you create is undefined
Swim through the depths of your mind
And all the answers that you wish to find
You will discover in the clouds
Where what you seek, can be found
Reach in the palm of the second hand
In a place of magic where still time stands
But now that light, it grows dim
But the silence it can't break these chains
These links are set in patterns that I can not rearrange
In the distant dreams that will begin
The silent movie and as the lights grow dim
The usher tells you to make your move
The curtain falls as the darkness consumes

Leaving The Past Behind
As i was walking out last night, a strange wind was blowin'
Ran into an old man, round a place I used to go,
he gave to me a lesson that i have yet to fully learn
But there was fire in his eyes, and when he spoke it burned
He said "when will we see all the fighting here is for someone else's gold?
And we'll never see a dime of it lying stiff out in the cold.
And when have i ever lied to you, and just what will you do--
If everything that i have said, turns out to be true?"
"Dont give up your search he said, there's still enough to believe,
Too many answers out there for us to always be decieved,
They can fool us sometimes but by god is swear this time I'll find
Everything i need to knock down the walls inside my mind."
Now I have been through fire, and I have been left in the cold,
And soon enough my bones will feel the weight of growing old,
But I am learning to listen to my heart and leave the rest behind
And I can swear I see more now than before my eyes went blind
I'm leavin the past behind, / I'm goin where the sun will shine
I found what i need to know / I'm goin' where the winds don't blow

Long Time Risin'
A tenebrous sky filling in the east
The west falling into shadows deep
On the road, where I’ve been a long time riding
The moon casts its spell as the night lingers on
Lending its light to me till dawn
And the sun took a long time risin'
It took me a while just to get on the road
Under the burden of a heavy load
I keep my eyes fixed out on the light
That's burning beyond the borders of my sight
Chasing the sun as it crosses the sky
Well it's a losing battle but still I try
With tired eyes set on the horizon
So I move under this blistering morn'
With the heat pouring down but still I'm torn
Cause' sometimes, you’ve got to keep on risin'
That's why I keep searching out there towards the light
It’s like a beacon out there burning bright
I travel through my days and on through the nights
Knowing one day, one day we'll reach the light

Ride
Well I say ride through my endless dream
It’s only then that I might let you see
Two and a half years with my heart still in pain
I’m waiting for you baby, just call out my name
Well I say babe, don't walk out that door
I need your love and what's more
Is I can't seem to find my way inside
So I'm left here sitting, just biding my time
But she goes
To let me know
That it's one more night all alone
And I need to be
Someplace where she can send me
Back out in the cold
And so I go down the endless street
Looking for her in every face I see
All lost in blue, wrapped up in a dream
Insanity abides and won't let me be
Babe I say ride all through the night
I've got no place to be and I’m not looking to fight
I just need a piece of your good time
Cause I feel like I’ve reached the end of my line
And I need to be someplace where she still sends me
But I say now baby I say baby ride
Baby ride
Baby baby ride
I say now ride all through the night
I've got no place to be and I'm not looking to fight
It's just that I’ve reached the end of my line
Cause' I know I'm going to love you till the end of time

The Road
Well I've sung with the Angels and I've danced with the devil
Sometimes I wonder which to choose
But these lanes and lines that are drawn all around me
Keep me strumming as I sing to you
Now in life I've seen the light hearted a dancin'
Lonely eyes just searching for a mate
And I've walked a thousand miles and I keep on a walkin'
My destiny guided by fate
So my darling oh darling where, where will I find you
To answer the question I wait
But the road that is traveled, it goes on forever
And one fine day we’ll meet at the gate

Time Long Gone
Well now babe, its been a long time
Since I have been on this climb
But there is so many miles left for me to go
And these shoes that I wear grow weary and old
And the sand slides down
Falling onto the rising ground
And as my cup fills with time
I just need to find a place to ease my mind
The sun sets in the western sky
And the tears that we cry soon have all dried
And though we turn to see our picture already drawn
We still push on
It's all time long gone now baby
Time long gone

To The River
Got to head out this morning
Cause my baby ain’t treating me right
I got the urge for haste and hurry
To put her out of my sight
Well you know my minds been aching
She's got that wandering eye
Yeah, she'll rip your heart in two now
And leave you up howling at night
So I got to head out on the road now
Before I can change my mind
I got to make it to the river
Where I know I'll be alright

Where We're Goin.'
She set out running on a thrill
Moving out west heading out her window sill
Stopped a car that was driving on by
And said hey honey won't you let me take a ride
Oh and I and I don't know where she's goin'
They drove into the midnight hours of the morn'
With tear dried eyes looking for something more
And as they gazed up at the dawning sky
A spark was born with in their eyes
Oh and I and I don't know where they're goin'
And as they drive toward the sun
Knowing that they could find their way
They light shining down on the path they'd begun
Shining down and now I see
And baby I can see
It shine down onto me
As you, shine through
And still this story, it rolls on
Of two young lovers out on the run
Looking for something that they already knew
And honey sweet baby I'm just trying to find my way back to you
Oh and I and I don't know where we're goin'
I don't know
